Job description
Adsorption Expertise: You act as Climeworks’ internal expert on adsorption, providing technical guidance and supporting key decisions in R&D and process development.
Adsorption Experimental Data Analysis: You develop, improve and maintain methods for analyzing breakthrough curves, ensuring robust interpretation and data quality.
Co‑Adsorption Isotherm Modelling: You guide the use and implementation of co‑adsorption isotherms for process modelling and help translate laboratory data into engineering-relevant inputs.
Sorbent Development Guidance: You support the development of new sorbents by applying your deep understanding of adsorption fundamentals and mass transport limitations.
Dynamic Adsorption Modelling: You contribute to the development and refinement of dynamic adsorption process models and serve as the go-to expert for all topics related to adsorption.
Adsorption Process Development and Intellectual Property: You design, innovate, and scale adsorption processes from conceptualization to deployment. You strengthen Climeworks’ intellectual property position and support competitive landscape assessments.
Job requirements
Chemical Engineering Background: You have an academic background in chemical engineering and ideally hold a PhD with a focus on adsorption.
Industrial Adsorption Expertise: You understand adsorption fundamentals in industrial applications and have demonstrated experience applying them in real‑world settings, considering operational and business constraints.
Execution Mindset & Tools: You get things done with a pragmatic, observant and curious approach, and you are proficient in modern data analysis tools and processes.
Strong Communication Skills: You clearly communicate complex scientific and engineering concepts to audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge.
Language Skills & Travel: You are proficient in English and motivated to travel occasionally.

Salary: At Climeworks, salary ranges are assigned to a job based on the level of seniority and the location specific market median of similar jobs according to external benchmark surveys. Individual compensation depends on your skills, experience, and the value you bring to the team.
Formalities:
This position is based in Opfikon, Zurich, and we ask that you work onsite at least three days per week.
The percentage in the job title means flexibility – choose full-time or part-time based on what works for you.
