Patent Counsel (80-100%)

• Patent Advisory and Innovation Mining: Your mission at Climeworks is to advise on patenting and related matters as well as to foster sustainable innovation mining across the organization.

• IP and Inventor Enablement: You enable the management of IP topics by guiding inventors and ensuring readiness for future projects.

• Technology and Product Landscape Monitoring: You continuously monitor Climeworks’ product innovations and the evolving technology landscape.

• Inventor and Expert Interface: You serve as the essential bridge between inventors and innovation protection experts, ensuring efficient communication and collaboration.

• Patent Portfolio and Scientific Analysis: You dive deep into Climeworks’ patent portfolio and relevant scientific literature to provide strong technical insights.

• Core Technology Ownership: You own core technology domains with a focus on patent filing and ongoing maintenance.

• Continuous Improvement: You refine and streamline Climeworks’ innovation mining and protection approaches, ensuring the company remains an industry leader.

• Scientific and Technical Foundation: You possess a scientific or engineering background and bring a broad, practical understanding of diverse technical topics with an open and curious technical mindset.

• Patent Qualification and Legal Expertise: You are a qualified patent attorney (CH, EU and/or US) with solid knowledge of EU and US patent laws.

• Experience: You bring 5+ years of experience in patent prosecution and the active management of patent portfolios.

• Working Style: You are trustworthy, reliable, and excel at driving projects to completion independently, supported by a strong strategic mindset.

• Adaptability and Agility: You adapt swiftly to new challenges and can shift focus as priorities evolve in a dynamic environment.

• Language Proficiency: You are proficient in English, both spoken and written.  

Nice to have:

• You have patent litigation experience. 

• You might have had in-house roles in multinational companies. 

• You have robust expertise in engineering, chemistry, or both. 

• You have experience driving cross-functional projects to successful conclusion. 

• You can converse in German.

Salary: At Climeworks, salary ranges are assigned to a job based on the level of seniority and the location specific market median of similar jobs according to external benchmark surveys. Individual compensation depends on your skills, experience, and the value you bring to the team.

Formalities: 

• This position is based in Opfikon, Zurich, and we ask that you work onsite at least three days per week.

• The percentage in the job title means flexibility – choose full-time or part-time based on what works for you.
