Lead Development Specialist in Adsorption (80-100%)

Job description

  • You own the development and implementation of novel adsorption process concepts for Climeworks solid sorbent based DAC technology, aiming at enhancing overall productivity, efficiency and reliability of current and future DAC plants.
  • You lead targeted measurement campaigns, from lab scale to full scale, to support the development and validation of Climeworks advanced modeling capabilities for phenomenological and dynamic models application.
  • You work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams with expertise in testing, material development, sorbent structure design, material characterization, data science, process engineering, product design, plant design to support the design of experiments, performance validation, and scale-up activities.
  • You conduct single- and multi-objective techno-economic optimization studies of adsorption/desorption process design parameters
  • You collaborate closely with the Plant Operations Engineering team to validate plant performance models.
  • You manage collaboration with internal and external partners geared towards increasing the fundamental understand of Climeworks DAC process and complement Climeworks own R&D activities.
  • You mentor and train junior member of the team.
  • You generate new ideas and concept to improve Climeworks IP portfolio. You stay abreast of all new relevant technological development in the field and provide competitive assessment.

Job requirements

  • You hold a university degree at PhD level in process engineering, chemical engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • You bring advanced knowledge in adsorption, thermodynamics or separation processes in general.
  • You have at least 10 years of industrial experience in a similar role. Hands-on experience in designing and testing adsorption systems and processes is a big plus.
  • You have experience in and enjoy dynamic simulations and numerical modelling. You are familiar with sorbent characterization method.
  • You take ownership, prefer detail-oriented work and thrive working in an interdisciplinary team.
  • You are fluent in English. German is beneficial but not required.
