Intern in Analytical Chemistry Lab

Job description

  • Sample Analysis: Perform measurements using analytical equipment such as TGA, water vapor sorption, porosimetry (BET, Hg intrusion), elemental analysis, titrators, and moisture analyzers.

  • Calibration & Validation: Calibrate instruments and conduct validations according to recommended schedules.

  • Method Development: Assist in developing and optimizing analytical methods on various devices.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Troubleshoot issues and perform routine maintenance on analytical equipment.

  • Laboratory Organization: Maintain a clean workspace and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in the lab.

  • Documentation & Compliance: Prepare and maintain SOPs, shutdown procedures, error logs, and other required documentation.

  • Lab Relocation Support: Assist in organizing a laboratory move, including creating checklists, inventories, and documentation.

  • Instrumentation Setup: Support the setup, installation, and modification of analytical devices and equipment.

Job requirements

  • Educational Background: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in chemistry; materials science or carbon capture focus preferred.

  • Technical Familiarity: Exposure to analytical techniques such as those listed (e.g., TGA, sorption, porosimetry) is an advantage.

  • Work Style: Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive with a strong “go-getter” mindset.

  • Health & Safety: Adheres to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements.

  • Language Skills: Fluency in English required.

  • Additional Skills: Experience with coding or script writing considered a plus.

What we offer:

At Climeworks, our six-month internships offer a hybrid work setup, giving you flexibility while ensuring valuable collaboration by working onsite at least three days per week. To maintain fairness, we follow a standardized salary process based on market benchmarks. For our internships based in Switzerland, the compensation is:

  • During BSc & MSc: CHF 2,000 per month

  • After completion of MSc: CHF 2,500 per month
